Strategy for Kyiv's allies concerning the nation's efforts to counter Russia, with the goal of accelerating the disbursement of a portion of a European Union loan aimed at addressing a $27 billion shortfall in the military budget.

 

The Ukrainian government heavily relies on international financial assistance to maintain its military operations, which are now in their fifth year, with the EU committing €90 billion in funding through 2027.

 

In remarks made to the media on Sunday, Yevhenii Khmara expressed that Kyiv plans to seek an advance on part of the €45 billion loan set for next year, while also pushing for increased support from allies and outreach to new countries that have not yet provided aid.

 

"Ukraine will present our partners with a clear vision and a concrete plan: detailing the objectives of the Defence Forces, identifying essential projects, specifying the anticipated outcomes, and establishing timelines for their achievement," he stated.

 

The EU has earmarked €45 billion for each of the years 2026 and 2027, allowing Ukraine to allocate unprecedented resources towards its defence initiatives.

President yVolodymyr Zelenski noted last week that Kyiv had surpassed its spending expectations in the first half of the year.
